RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay: What’s Included, What Costs Extra and What’s New
The new complimentary food pavilion at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay is separate from the paid Beach Club. That distinction is the starting point for planning your island day: you do not need to buy the Beach Club just to use the announced complimentary pavilion, but you should not assume that club service, drinks or upgraded rentals are included in the ordinary island visit.
What HAL announced for the 2026-27 season
In its September 22, 2026 release, Holland America described a refreshed island experience for selected Caribbean itineraries sailing from October 2026 through April 2027. The changes include the Beach Club, a new food pavilion, refreshed bars and eateries, upgraded cabanas, additional daybeds and refreshed canopy loungers. These are supplier-announced improvements, not a firsthand review of completed facilities on your travel date.
Confirm the island call on the specific cruise you are considering. A Caribbean label does not establish that Half Moon Cay is on the itinerary. Even when it is scheduled, weather and tender operations can affect whether guests reach the island. We would avoid making the entire vacation depend on a single beach day.
Included versus paid: keep the two experiences separate

The reviewed release does not provide a Beach Club pass price. We therefore would not build your budget around an unverified number. Ask for the price and what one pass covers for your party before paying. A dedicated waiter may appeal to someone who wants fewer trips back and forth; another traveler may prefer the complimentary pavilion and a simpler day ashore.
A ship beverage package is not an island spending allowance
Do not assume an onboard beverage package pays for island drinks. The reviewed US Early Booking Bonus terms exclude purchases on RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay from the Elite Beverage Package. The paid Beach Club has its own announced beverage inclusion; that is a different product, not an extension of the ship package.
This matters when comparing a cabin-only fare with a package fare. If the island day is a major part of your plans, put any pass, rental and uncovered drinks on a separate budget line. Have It All also does not make every excursion or island purchase free. Ask which credit, if any, can apply to the exact item instead of assuming it can pay for anything ashore.
Check the practical island-day details
Priority tendering attached to a purchased pass is not a weather guarantee. If you have mobility needs, confirm tender procedures and access to the facilities you want before selecting the cruise. For a family or mixed group, compare everyone’s expectations: a rental, a paid club day and time at the complimentary pavilion are different arrangements, even though they share the same destination.
Keep reservations and the day’s ship schedule together. The useful questions are what is booked, what remains optional, and when you must return, not just whether the island has more facilities. Check cancellation and refund terms for each purchased activity with the supplier.
The pickleball announcement has two different dates
HAL’s September 30 announcement identifies Nieuw Statendam’s seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise departing March 7, 2027, with the Private Island Invitational on March 13 at Half Moon Cay. March 7 is the cruise departure, not the island tournament date. Four separate selected Countdown Cruises were also announced with special programming.
These dates describe the announcement rather than an evergreen promise of an upcoming event. Ordinary island visits do not automatically include that program, and guests should not assume they will compete in the professional invitational. If pickleball is your reason for choosing the trip, verify the exact event sailing and confirmed guest activities before booking.
Questions travelers ask
Do I need a Beach Club pass to use the new food pavilion?
No. HAL describes the new pavilion outside the Beach Club as complimentary. The purchased club experience is separate.
Does Elite cover drinks on Half Moon Cay?
The reviewed US Early Booking Bonus terms exclude island purchases from Elite. A purchased Beach Club pass has its own announced beverage inclusion.
Are upgraded cabanas and daybeds free?
Do not assume that. Confirm the rental price, reservation details and inclusions for the specific product.
Is the professional pickleball event on March 7?
No. March 7, 2027 is Nieuw Statendam’s cruise departure. The announced island event is March 13, subject to current supplier confirmation.
